Flood is one of the most common disasters in the world. In general, a flood refers to a condition in which a landscape is abnormally filled with water and has a high-water level without draining from the ground level. According to this, the flood disaster is regarded as the most common and frequent disaster in the world's countries. According to this, Sri Lanka is a country that is frequently subjected to flood disasters. Although floods have become a common occurrence in Sri Lanka during the monsoon season, cyclones and westerlies also play a role. Apart from these, the impact of human activities is also seen. Based on that, the study is found to be focused on the Kattankudy Divisional Secretariat located in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. This study area is found to be an area that faces flood disasters during the increased rainfall each year. During this calamity, the study area faces various impacts. Although natural factors influence the occurrence of flood disasters here, many human factors also influence it. Based on that, the consequences are also more visible. Based on that, the main objective of this study is to evaluate the losses caused by floods in the Kattankudy area during the period from 2010 to 2021. The data were collected to achieve the objective of the study and the qualitative and; quantitative data were analyzed logically and numerical data is analyzed mathematically using human behavior as numerical data is included. Based on that, the characteristic data will be presented descriptively and the numerical data will be presented and explained through tables and graphs based on statistical techniques. The data collected to achieve the study's objective is qualitative, and attributive data is analyzed logically, while numerical data is analyzed mathematically using human behavior as numerical data is included. Based on that, descriptive data will be presented, and numerical data will be presented and explained using tables and graphs based on statistical techniques. This data is primarily gathered from primary and secondary sources for analysis. Based on this, data for the years 2010 to 2021 were obtained from the Kattankudy Divisional Secretariat. In addition, primary data were obtained through interviews with officials, and analysis was performed. This study also identified the social, economic, and environmental impacts of flood disasters. This study examined the damage to life and property caused by floods in 18 GSDs under the Kattankudy Divisional Secretariat.
