نظام الزمن بين اللغتين العربية والإنجليزية: دراسة مقارنة

Abstract

Language is a communication tool used by everyone in their daily life as a means to convey information and arguments to others. Arabic language is one of the most extensive and rich languages and has been expanded all the purposes of human life. English language has become a requirement of this modern era, and accepted by learning globally. Rather, both languages have distinct grammatical and structural bases. Hence, the present study aimed at clarifying the tense and aspect in both languages and detecting similarities and difference between the Tense system in both languages. The researcher has used Descriptive and Contrastive methods. The descriptive method was used to illustrate what Arabic and English contains. On the other hand, the comparative method was used to compare between Arabic and English and to discover similarities and differences in the expression of Tense. Moreover, this paper used primary data which was collected from books, research articles and Websites information to construct its theoretical subject. The English language has twelve types. While the Arabic language has three types of tense structure, even if these two languages originate from different families, there are numerous similarities and differences between them. The study's main finding sheds light on clear comparisons and provides a guide for language learners on how to use Arabic's three tenses with twelve English tenses.
