dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to investigate the impact of societal factors of work life balance on job performance. The study adopted survey strategy and the data were gleaned with the aid of selfreported questionnaire from all the academic and administrative heads of the North East universities in Sri Lanka. Of a total of 339 subjects, two hundred and fifty-seven (257) usable responses were obtained. Following the robust analytical procedures, the results of the study disclose that societal factors of work life balance have significant impact on job performance. This study provides valuable insights and guidance for high education sector in Sri Lanka. Further, the findings of the study will serve as a guide to academic and administrative heads in universities to improve their performance. Without any reservation, the study is beneficial for policymakers and government (UGC and ministry) in planning and implementation, decision-making, and performance evaluation process to consider the societal factors of work life balance to enhance the job performance.en_US
