Abstract: Covid-19, which started at the beginning of the year 2020, spreading in Sri Lanka in March. When the outbreak began, schools, businesses, and all forms of transportation were shut down. Everyday workers and the workers who draw monthly income are disabled at their home. For about three to four months, the cost of living for most people is questionable. Covid-19 posed many challenges to Sri Lanka, not only healthy but also economically. Among the major one is scarcity, unemployment, random foreign trade, industrial shutdowns, and recessionary tourism. Number of advantages have been identified during the survey, despite the various problems caused by the corona factor, like two sides of the same coin. They are also pointed out here. Primary data and secondary data were used to perform this study in an efficient manner. Self-employed, paid work. Discussions were held with workers, interviews and discussions were held with school students, higher education students, and government professionals. The main purpose of this study is to identify the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 impact on the people of the Kalugamuwa area. The freeze in the country, the traffic jams, and the social gap all created challenges here. Looking at the first unit of family income, the income of about 90 percent of the population has declined. And the income of 10% of the population has completely vanished. Various expenses, such as education, entertainment, transport, health, debt repayment, were stalled for several months by "Covid-19". In addition, the cost of electricity, internet usage, and so on increased during the periods. The socio-economic crisis faced by the people of this village, which is home to more than 1200 families, forced them to face many livelihood problems during this period, and a few proposals have been suggested for them.
