dc.description.abstract | Tafsir or Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an is one of the most magnificent sciences introduced by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and developed further in successive generations by Qur'anic experts. Specialists developed specific methods for explaining the Qur’an, opting for either a linguistic or narrative-style approach. It was not until of the third-century Hijra, when Imam Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, a renowned figure of Qur’anic commentary, would combine both of linguistic and narrative-style approach to tafsir science, introducing a comprehensive and holistic methodology. Al-Tabari applied this method in his magnum opus Jāmiʿ al-bayān ʿan taʾwīl āy al-Qurʾān. This study looks at al-Tabari's methodology as applied in Jāmiʿ al-bayān ʿan taʾwīl āy al-Qurʾān | en_US |
