dc.description.abstract | Beggars can be often seen in all societies, which is considered, as one of the socio economic problems existing in the world. Begging is viewed as an index of individual and social disorder. The objectives of this research were to identify the different type beggars and the factors induced begging. Convenience sample method was used for this study from April to September that covered the area range from Akkaraipattu to Marudamunai (Selected villages in southeastern part of Amparai district). The different types of beggars and the factors influenced on begging were found out at the end of the research. The study identified the following reasons that triggered begging in the study area: having no one to look after (loss of family members), forced to go for begging, poor education and lack of ability to work, trying to be independent, influence of all family members engaging in begging, supporting the family through begging, parents are either dead or sick, war situation, abandoned by the husband and medical purposes. | en_US |
