dc.description.abstract | Density of Population is a common aspect of many countries in the world and also it is the major issue in developing country. Similarly, the reports from Base Hospital- Kattankudy, Divisional Secretariat- Kattankudy and Urban Council- Kattankudy show that the people in Kattankudy are faced with innumerable challenges due to Population Density from 1988 in Kattankudy Divisional secretariat Division in Batticaloa District. Although many measures are taken by the government and Nongovernmental Organizations to address this issue, it has been proved that it is a difficult task. This case Study aims at exploring the factors of density population development and many challenges confronting the people. This is a mix study of qualitative and quantitative method employed for data collection purposes. Of which, 90 questionnaires, 10 interviews and 02 focus group discussions were conducted. Findings show that the factors of density population are: lack of living space, regional attachment, developments, security, early marriage and new settlement. The challenges of growth and density of population are social and educational issues, religious and cultural challenges, health issues, economic challenges, growth of diseases, increased crimes and road accident. At the end of the study, this study suggests ways and means to overcome the challenges posed by the density population and proposes suggestions to government and organizations to address these challenges. | en_US |
